Cabo with and without Pepere

I am finally getting caught up with the blog posts... just a couple more to go before we go on vacation again!  heehee..  I know, right?  So before we went to NH this summer we decided to start our vacation in Mexico.  Cabo to be exact, because the one thing we really miss here (other than all of you!!! :)  is mexican food!  While we have Skype and facebook to keep up with what is happening back home, there is NO GOOD GUACAMOLE!  We thought we could get it out of our systems, but that will never happen.  Anyway... pit stop in Cabo.

With Pepere!  Yay!

You know the luck we have been having with weather during our last few trips, well, this one started no differently.  There happened to be a hurricane which caused our flight to be cancelled... but we got bumped to a different airline, and wound up making it as the last flight of the night, into a closed airport... but we made it.  Thank god for tequila!  You can see the ocean behind us is all churned up and fierce.

This is the following evening, as we went for dinner.

After dinner!

Some tequila may have been harmed in the taking of this picture...

And this one!  heehee!

This is the first place we stayed with Pepere, but then he had to get back to work, and we didn't, so we went to a different hotel for a change of scenery and restaurants.  While this place was outside of town, the next place was right downtown.

For some pictures, there are no words.

The stairs up to our room (but yes, there was an elevator, too)

Here we are waving to Pepere as he leaves.

R-Man definitely made himself home at the all inclusive place.  You could often find him at the bar, ordering banana shakes, chocolate shakes, or at least that is what he was told us he was ordering!

Our view, harbor side.

Our view, beach side.

This place had cupcakes, coffees, sandwiches and desserts all day poolside.

This is sunrise of our fishing excursion day.

This is a well known site in Cabo, the Arch.  Sorry for the lop-sided horizon, but the boat was rocking.

So we caught a bunch of fish with our friend Jose and he clubbed their little heads.

For about 3 minutes we had this guy following us back into the harbor.

On the last day we all sat around the pool and ate guacamole with tequila, except R-Man, who entered the kids pool competition and was the grand prize winner.  Here he is showing off all his prizes:  t-shirt, visor, fanny pack.

He's a WINNER!

Thailand again... after a change of plans

Sometimes the weather has a way of getting in the way of plans.  And for us, last spring break, that weather was a typhoon named Maysak.  We were supposed to go to Borocay in the Philippines, but that happened to be right under the typhoon.  So we cancelled at the last minute and found a cheap flight/hotel combo to... can you guess.... our favorite place, Thailand.

Since we had just been there a couple months ago, this was going to be just a bunch of resting, relaxing, and doing the things we loved again.

Luckily for us, the things we love are pretty easy to come by in Thailand.   Beach, cheap dinners, sunsets.

and go-karts.  Well, not so much for me, but for everyone else.
And who doesn't love helmets?

We also did a little shopping at a local mall, which had a Dairy Queen.
Because soft-serve is another of our favorite things.

These are some blizzard options:  mango cheesecake and mango sticky rice

And black bean blizzard in a waffle cone

Yummy!

Heading home we got upgraded to business class, which included this VIP shuttle to the plane.

R-Man really is a first class kid.

with the free slippers

and samsung video players for the free wi-fi.  Pooks really couldn't care less, as long as she had her book.

but this guy loved it.

and we made it back in time for his 11th birthday.
