Mykonos

Last couple of days of the tour.  Here we are in Mykonos, Greece.  We're glad to find some shade because the sun is HOT.  Luckily the water is perfect, but deep.

Isn't this just what you think of when you think of Greece?

The inside of that tiny church.

What good is a pier if you can't jump off it?

Last stop, Pompeii.  This place is seriously strange.

And while I hate to use wikipedia as a source, it says that at the time of the eruption about 20,000 people may have been living in Pompeii, but the eruption caught them completely by surprise.

The whole place was buried in volcanic ash for about 1650 years.

Behind us you can see Mt. Vesuvius, which erupted in 79 and covered Pompeii, and which last erupted in 1944.  Our taxi guy said that the mount is sleeping.  Hmmmmm....  these people are seriously brave to live here.

There are lots of things that have been excavated, including this person that seems to be praying.

Pots for olive oil.

The Pompeii Colosseum.

The place is so pretty, it is easy to imagine what life was like 2000 years ago, the buildings are beautiful, with mosaics, murals, and fancy stonework.  That is what makes it so eerie.

Pooks getting water.

Naples downtown.

Pooks and I get kicked out of this church for being immodest.  Yes, our shoulders and knees were showing.

To immodesty!  Cheers!
