Instead we marveled at these roofs with this thatch on them. We got to see how they do this, and it is just wood frame underneath, and then this stuff gets laid down on top. |
We also went to an ocean front park with a gorgeous water front. |
And a huge grassy area with a nice view. Looking back, we should have done the tour. |
Next stop is Dublin. This is the library where you can come and do your genealogy research. Pooks is thrilled to be here in a library, any library, but R-Man? Yea, his face says it all. |
We did a bus drop/walking tour, and the library was the drop off point. Next stop on our walk was St. Patrick's Cathedral. Trying to keep the church thing going... |
Nice view. |
To visit St. Patrick's Cathedral is 5.50 euro each, but if you are going to mass, you get in for free. Lucky for us... mass was just starting... so we sold our souls for 22 euro and went to mass. |
Us and a few other bargain hunters... |
Here is the second church we visited in Dublin... the Guinness factory. |
Amen! |
Here we are with the patron saint, Arthur Guinness... I swear, we might be related. |
This is an old ad, and you can sit in the picture, kids and all. |
At the top of the factory there is a sky bar, and this is the view from the top. |
We are true believers. |
Doing some shopping downtown. |
R-Man with his required street musician shot. We keep all our change and he just passes it out to these guys. |
The next stop on our trip was Liverpool, England. Do you know what Liverpool is famous for? |
Yup! The Beatles! This place loves the Beatles, but lucky for them, they also have a lot of other really cool things going for them! |
Liverpool is a combination of old and new, so here is the old wharf building (with a liverbird on the left spire). |
And right next door is the Museum of Liverpool, a free museum. It had some Beatles stuff, but also had a lot of interesting history of Liverpool and some other cool exhibits. |
The Beatles album covers and every song title. |
This is a lambanana, one of many you can find around Liverpool. |
Another free museum, the Merseyside Maritime Museum... the Mersey is a river that runs through Liverpool. The museum is in Albert Dock, which is an UNESCO heritage site. |
This is the Radio City Tower. |
The first of our church stops in Liverpool, the modern Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, built in 1967. |
The view from inside. |
And the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, which was started in 1904 and took 74 years to build. |
The front entrance. |
which makes you wonder who thought... gee... what this place really needs is a pink neon bumper sticker. |
The cemetery outside the church. We thought it was very Hogwarts looking. |
Check out the size of this dandelion! WOAH! |
Our last stop of the day, the Wheel of Liverpool. Really, a big ferris wheel. |
The view of Albert Dock and the city behind it. |
That is the cathedral and the city in front of it. |
You know who this is... |
I get squeegee legs just looking at this. |
and finally, the Beatles, made of Jelly Bellies! |
